Fishing Report - 7/8 through 7/15

We did well on bass (both largemouth in 2' to 6' of water and Smallmouth in deeper water). Almost all of the bass were caught on silver stick baits or silver/black/white crankbaits (5' divers). Yellow did not work, it was all silver/black/white. Slow retrieve. Same baits caught everything else under the sun to include some nice crappie, very small perch, bluegill, and sunfish and of course rock bass. Heard some nice reports of large, largemouth on Senko's in shallower type water, but couldn't stand trying to get the Senko across with all the small panfish nibbling it on the way back so did not fish this way, this time.
NO PIKE the entire week, not a single one.
Crappie bite was hot with small jigs or jig with live minnow when you can find them on the dropoffs (4' to 12-15'), you could catch 10-20 nice ones pretty quick.
All in all for Black Lake in mid July with water levels really low and having to fish 5 of the 7 days where the wind would allow us to hide behind an island or bridge, it was a pretty successful trip.
Stayed at McClears and LOVED the cottage, their service, their warm inviting hospitality and the Bonefish Cafe.
