I'll be heading up tomorrow and will post our results. I will give water temperature, level, and conditions. Let's see if folks are still watching this forum. Three of us in the boat and targeting pike but will look for crappie and always hopeful for a walleye. cheers and tight lines...Bob-O

Arrived today around 3pm, went to the ramp at 4pm. Ramp was wide open to launch and in great shape. Water level is pretty much perfect and normal for this time of year. Water temp is 62F. Went out for a few hours and no pike. Fishing south of the bridge around Bowman Island and lonesome bay. Maybe tomorrow will bring better luck. Very nice weather a little windy but doable out of the north west.

Thanks for letting us know that there really is someone fishing the lake. Anxious to see how you make out as I'll be heading up June 10 for a week. I'm sure some of us will spend some time looking for pike but most of us are going to concentrate on crappies. We'll be staying at McClear's.

Hi Jerry, I think we met.. book worm?

Today we had perfect weather water temp 58f in the morning and 65f by end of day. We had to fish like crazy for four pike, largest was 28". The lake seems less busy than normal. We found the pike in 4FOW and in closer to shore line. It still getting cold at night so maybe the water will stay cooler. Tight lines... Bob-O

"Hi Jerry, I think we met.. book worm?"

Knock me over with a feather!! Did we meet in the store in East Aurora??

Good to see you found a few, anyway. What did you get them on, if I may ask?

Jerry we met at camp, cottage 17 sound familiar? We are throwing spoons, like five of diamonds and dare devil.

Water temp is 62F and the morning weather was nice but fishing is slow and need to move and work for the fish. We caught no pike but did loose one at the boat. The afternoon was a wind out, strong wind out of the south kept us in till 6. Went out then and caught one at 18". We just keep fishing and hope for the best. Cheers!

I remember. You put us a few crappie in Big Bay. Don't recall mentioning the Bookworm in our conversation. I have talked about Black Lake to more than one customer in the store, though.

We'll be in the same cabin and have the first camp site from it. Sure hope the fishing picks up for you.

I'll be following your posts the rest of the week.

Tuesday. The morning bite was slow, we managed 4 pike, the largest was 28.5". Water temp 60F and wind strong from the south. All fish were caught in less than 5 FOW using spoons. The evening outing was less productive due to the wind. Wind now from the north and temp dropped. We caught one and went in early due to the wind and water conditions. Overall satisfied with our trip so far, not great fishing but being on the lake and coming back to a warm cottage is well worth the effort. Cheers, Bob-O

Wednesday. Cold 35f and strong winds from the North. The morning outing was short due to the temp and the wind. No fish were caught. Went out earlier in the afternoon and wind was better and a bit warmer. We lost a few at the boat and managed two at 22" the water level is dropping and the water temp is holding at 62F. Fishing is slow and have to work hard to catch fish. Still a great trip, have not missed a day without boating a fish. Good luck...Bob-O

Thursday. Cold again, frost on the ground. Water temp is 58F. Water level is down about a foot since we arrived. We only caught one pike all day. We only use spoons so maybe the bobber fishermen are doing better. We have been picking up some nice perch along the way. We have one more day to turn things around. Good luck, Bob-O

I agree that this is the best place for information for fishing reports. I hope we can keep this forum active and where folks can check in for the lake conditions and hopes of pre-planning their upcoming trip. I really appreciate the people and the camp owners support for keeping fishing a enjoyable sport for the young and old.

Friday. Last report of this trip. Water temp is 58F and water is pretty clear. The level has dropped as posted. We caught three pike, largest was 21". We did find some keeper crappie in front of Jenny island just in front of the porch on the rock pile. Below is the following year's totals:
2023 15 pike
2022 8 pike
2021 15 pike
2020 32 pike
2019 30 pike
2018 40 pike
2017 31 pike
2016 33 pike
2015 51 pike
2014 23 pike
2013 25 pike
Only some were harvested most were returned.
Some factors are covid, season opener date change. Cheers and tight lines...Black lake Bob-O
