Fishing report 6/4 to 6/10

Post by Susky » Sun Jun 05, 2016 11:16 pm

Arrived Saturday, very low and very clear water. Fished north of the bridge mostly drifting bays in the late afternoon. Water temp was in the mid 70s. Picked up a few nice perch and sunfish on small tube jigs. One small pike on a spoon. Moved south of the bridge in the evening. Found some crappie but they seem to be holding in deeper water, 10 to 15 feet.

Sunday, rained most of the day in fact we're getting hit with another thunderstorm as I'm typing this. Air and water temps are dropping and the wind has picked up. We did get out in the evening, drifted some bigger bays for pike. Couldn't find any pike but we caught some nice largemouth (all immediately released without being removed from the water). We actually moved to get away from them since we weren't catching any pike. Anchored off an island in about 12ft of water and found some crappie, mostly small ones but we did get a few nicer ones with some perch mixed in. All were caught vertical jigging small shiners.

It's been kinda tough so far, we've definitely worked for our fish. Time will tell if this cold front helps or hurts us. One thing we haven't found yet is channel cats. We always target them but have had trouble finding them so far. I'll try to update this throughout the week.

Good luck, C&R
