Fishing reports?

Post by FishOn0099 » Sun Apr 26, 2015 8:56 pm

Heading up to the lake this weekend, May 1. Any helpful fishing reports? Hoping to run into some walleye or pike Saturday...what's been biting?

I'm heading up with a group opening weekend as well. I suspect you won't see any response to your message since the legal fishing season hasn't started yet for Pike or Walleye.

I'm up every year around the same time and try to look for a nice big shallow bay for active pike feeding right after their spawn. Walleye are tough, probably off the spawning areas now and starting to spread out in the lake. Good luck!

We wont be up for another 2 weeks but we tend to get into the pike pretty good in the bays as well, usualy wherever we fish we try and put the general pike rig out, big bobber , treble with a mondo minnow and a steal leader. Theres a couple bays along the St . Lawrence a short distance from BL that are pretty good for pike as well. Where still working on the wallaye hunt on BL havnt pinpointed a spot that produces on the norm yet.

Good Luck

We were at the lake for the holiday weekend. The weather was miserable but that didn't stop us from trying to find the fish. We were targeting crappies and walleyes. While fishing for crappies with a bobber and a plastic jig tipped with live bait I caught this monster bass the biggest one I've ever caught out of black lake. Too bad it wasn't in season it would been a good sandwich!!

Were you able to take a picture of that huge Bass? They are becoming few and far between these last few years. If I ever catch one that large he will go right back into the lake for posterity. Catch & Release!!

Oh no !! Not the picture thing . I'm not even sure how this ended up, but I'd be pretty careful taking any photos of fish not 100% legal these days .
