Heard anything on the ice / lake conditions Phil? I am planning on making my first trip out on friday. I know you have reported that the warm weather really affected the ice, was hoping a weeks worth of cold ice making weather would put some more ice on the lake. Anything you hear about out by black lake marine or out by Rollaway bay would be greatly appreciated :)

Brian - ice should be way better. 3 really cold days and nights since the last little warm-up and rain should have added inches of good ice. There is no snow cover right now. Calling for lake effect snows tonight. I would guess 8" in most areas. Chapman's would have a more accurate observation.

Nice work - keep on 'em. Headed out in the AM - taking my transportation with me, this trip - no more walking for a while - gets me away from the crowds too. :D

Got on the ice today with the tracked ATV. Lonesome Bay had 11" of ice and we found no less than 8" out on the main lake. Drifted snow to about 6" in places, other places windswept bare. Shore line is a little wet - the water leverl is dropping, keeping the shore line broken. We got some decent perch.

Nice catch. Just wondering, I thought there was a 25 fish limit on bluegills. Am I wrong. Is that only for crappies?

Best kept secret for pike in NY is the Black River from Glenfield to Carthage. I've seen 30 lber's pulled out of there numerous times over the years. Some nice small mouths and big Eyes also. Ssshhh, don't tell anyone! I met a soldier once who caught 3 -30 lb pike in Cranberry one afternoon using white spinners. I think duck bill hole was the area? Might not be duck bill but its duck something!
