7/26/14-8/01/14 Fishing

We just completed our 10th annual trip to Black Lake and although the weather was tough at times (rain/wind/storms), we still had good fishing when conditions permitted. Caught more and larger northern pike this year than in any previous year, with 5 fish between 25 1/2" and 27". We had a 10 lb catfish, 3 lb walleye and 19" largemouth bass. All fish were caught on lures (crank baits, spinner baits and rubber worms). With the exception of the two delicious walleyes, all were returned to fight another day. Looking forward to our future trips to Black Lake knowing the weeds, weather and water level are seldom the same from year to year. Variety is the spice of life and of what makes fishing special. Some years you're paying your dues, while other years you're cashing in. Eat a few and let the rest grow big and more fun to catch!
