To all Black Lake Lovers -- Would you be willing to be a volunteer water tester on Black Lake during 2014 for the Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP)? The Black Lake Association has been involved in this process for over 25 years, as it monitors the health of our lake over time. We have one primary volunteer already (Mike Powell, Sloan Rd) and are looking for a second person. Volunteers collect samples every other week for 15 weeks from the end of May through September, so approximately 9 times, and only 4-5 times if you split the responsibility with Mike. We also have 2 emergency back-up volunteers should someone not be able to do it. This is one way you could give back to the lake you know and love. Training is provided at no cost, and you must be trained before you would be allowed to take the samples. The program is coordinated by the New York State Federation of Lake Associations and NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Let's hear from you!!!
