I posted some pics on the black lake Facebook page. For some reason I can't post them on here. Last weekend we hammered em out in front of my camp next to black lake marine. Our biggest fish were a 36" pike, 12.5 crappie, 13" perch, and a bunch of 8" gils.

My friend RJ from buffalo caught that one. My 10 year old dragged a 30" pike through the ice and then he caught a 24" pike while jigging for those fat perch. The perch were caught on our furthest tip ups, about half way to big bay. The pike were delicious! We went out Saturday but the wind got the best of my shanty, broke the straps on it. Then the Auger broke down so we called it a day!

Not that it means much. And I do NOT want to start a controversy because I enjoy seeing the pictures of the fish and there have not been many  I believe that if these guys sit out on the ice in the cold and the wind they should keep the fish.
Just my opinion :big-grin:

Although I'm a catch and release fisherman, people who keep and eat the fish are legal and there is nothing wrong with what they do. Why they keep the really large fish for eating I don't know but a picture would be more valuable plus returning these larger pike would go far in maintaining the species in our lake. Catch & Release!

Don't be too misled - we are not, necessarily, sitting "out in the cold". :big-grin: There is a "comfortable" way to go ice-fishing.

For the most part we do a lot of catch and release. With that said if you put in the time and effort and want to keep some legal fish to eat there's nothing wrong with that either.

OH Yes :P Some of the ice shanties are like dream houses. But still if it is under 50 it is to cold for me  But the guys love it.

If you dont mind, what were you using to catch that? I got up in June and have really good luck with the pike.
