I've been there a few times :big-grin:
Ice is a good 3.5" and "feels" safe. No water coming up the holes while you and a buddy are standing next to one.
Shore ice was a little shaky for a day or two.
Don't know about the rest of the lake. This week and the cold that is forecast should make for more opportunities to get on the lake.

Got on the ice at Rollaway Bay today. Ice in the bay was 6"; 4" solid black ice out past the point and heading up towards Conger Island.
Stay away from the point on the left, open water there today; most likely from current, maybe surface water running in there, I don't know for sure. Anyways - that is a known danger area from years past.

I was told on iceshanty.com that the lake is about 7.5" thick on average.

None as of this AM. We only got about 6" of snow on the ice and it's likely going to be shrinking with the weather that is forecast for Friday.

I was on the main lake today with my wheeler. Crossed the lake from Chapmans to Raspberry Island and down to behind Crab Island.
No guesstimates - Stanley says 8" of black ice with about 6-8" of drifted snow - pressure ridges were small and tough to see but they are there and working and wet, (slushy).

Was out today for a few hours. Went on at Back Bay Cottages, into Mile Arm and then down to the Narrows. 8" minimum of good black ice with at least 8" of frozen, icy snow on top. Wheeler stayed on top. Fishing was pretty slow.

Coming from 3.5 hours south with my son for our annual ice fishing trip. Would love to know conditions and where to get on the lake. We have driven out on Rollaway Bay. Is that possible now?
My first post. Great fishing to all.
We have good success every time for Northerns, but would love to jig crappies. Getting to the spots will be a concern since no vehicle except truck.

I have seen a couple of vehicles on the ice. Personally, I would not drive my truck on the ice - that's just me though.

Phil have you been fishing near black lake marine at all? I got some friends coming from buffalo soon and we weren't sure if we should fish in front of my camp or go over to roll away. Or if you have any other suggestions we are open to any and all advice!
Thx
Erik
