It sure looks like a muskie to me for what I know. If so I hope it was let go to fight another day.

What are the results of the derby? How many entries? Weights?

Got out on Black Lake yesterday - after the big storm. Slow fishing, lots of snow. Probably over 12" with a lot of drifting. Water was "gushing" out of a few holes I drilled. I don't believe regular wheelers or trucks can go out there right now. It's going to be a real mess. Maybe the "little" warm-up that is coming Monday will help some. :?:

Generally more than 15" of ice, no slush and some areas of "icy" snow. Pickups and cars spotted on nearly all areas of the lake, south of Edwardsville.

Was out yesterday - was an awesome day - for weather - sunny and near 50. Lots of ice and easy to get around. Fishing was fishing- not catching. GOt one nice crappie, a 3 lb. smallmouth and couple of "tiny" perch. Fishing "catching" has been slow for nearly a month. I think I'm all done with the ice. Pike season ends this Friday. Got all my stuff put away and started working on the boat today. Last year I was out in the boat for the last day of pike season, albeit on the river. :big-grin:
Hope everyone had as a good a time on the ice as I did. Best ice season for me, ever.

My ice season ended a couple weeks ago. Fished only 28 times this year with only marginal success. Averaged only 3.5 fish per day and roughly 22 inch in length. Lots of 22-24 inch fat Pike and nothing worth bragging about. 3 years ago the majority of fish caught were 27-29 inches. Bag limits are growing but fish size is shrinking. 2011 fished 41 times...67 Pike. 2012 fished 41 times...97 Pike. Can still walk on the ice out front but am not prepared to swim.

Birds are not doing much here, mostly hens. My son & grandson have 2 youth hunters to take out youth weekend. Hope they do good.

Drove by the lake Saturday afternoon. Did not see anyone out fishing. Kind of surprised they are not still after the Crappie. Maybe someone can report on Mile Arm Bay?

I tried a couple spots by boat yesterday. No bites in about 1.5 hours of fishing. Few bullheads at night from shore though.
