Post by mavy » Mon May 16, 2011 5:18 pm

our group of 5 had a slow week . 1 pike 25", 1 small eye. Did catch a nice bunch of perch and 6 legal crappies. weather was mostly sunny with fair amount of wind from the north. Friday wind from south, but did not change our luck. always a good time up there just the same. mavy

We where up the same week. The fishin was the worst in 6 years we have been going. 3 factors, water was 5 feet higher than normal. No WEEDS and the wind was blowing from the east wich makes the fishin the least. From the west the best. It turned on Friday and then we caught several pike between 18 -24"

Seven of us fished May 8-14, caught lots of pike,35-40, many crappie, perch, bullheads, big cats. Stayed @ McLears, fished shallow in Lonesome and by old bus. All pike were caught on frozen-salted chubs, 4-6 inch set 2ft below bobber. Crappie were caught on 1/16 jig with chartruse tails with one inch of worm under bobber drifting in same area. We are from Medina & Albion,NY. This was our 30th year @ McLears.
