Fishing above the dam Heulveton

Post by charlescrisssr » Sun Mar 03, 2019 5:24 pm

Has anybody had any experince fishing above the dam in Heulveton. Was wondering how the fishing was and how deep it is? Also did they launch at the dam or up above off the side of the road. What kind of fish did you catch and how big a boat did you use? Thank for your help. :?:

Quite shallow. I have never fished it, have seen and talked to guys that ice fish the area about 1/2 mile above the dam.
There is a hand launch about 1.5 miles out of Heuvelton, towards Renselear Falls, at the River Rd. intersection. Lots of stumps outside the main river channel, going slow and learning the river would be in order. There are Bass, N.Pike and Walleye in there.

:D :D :D And now Muskies and Sturgeon because of the new fish ladder at Heuvelton.
I wonder how far upstream the next barrier to these fish is. Anyone know?

Renselaer Falls (an old dam and rapids, maybe negotiable) and before that is Coopers Falls, don't know about that. They probably already stock sturgeon in that area.

How about blue gill, perch, and crappie. I love too catch those kind of fish, throw in a pike or bad once in awhile isbok also. I am going to be living about 5 miles from there. I saw a few boats launching there. Looks like a really nice quite spot. I am so anxious to get up there. I have trouble getting my log in to stay. When i try and post it says I I need to log in again. It keeps doing it. Can you tell me what i ssm doing wrong?

Probably Bass and Perch for sure. Should be crappie and gills. I don't know.
