Ice Fishing

Post by Mac » Wed Nov 27, 2013 3:21 pm

We live in Buffalo and are looking for a good place to ice fish Black Lake.
How about some recommendations.
Would love to be able to walk right out onto ice if possible.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi MAC,
Looks like the way the weather is going, the ice fishing will be early this year.

I don't ice fish, but I know some of the cottages are open in the Winter for ice fishing. The ones that are, will probably have cottages on the waters edge.

On this web site, go to accomadations. I open up google maps and go down the list calling them and finding them on the map. I could mention a couple, but I believe it would be against the forum rules.

It would be helpful if some of the other ice fishermen would guide you to the more likely fishing locations. possible, you could locate a cottage near the fishing.
I am sure you will have other replays very soon.

save a few pike for as, as we will be arriving in May for the season.

Got out on the ice today with a couple of friends, up here from Syracuse. I didn't fish but put those guys on some crappie and they were doing OK when I left. :big-grin: Ice was marginal for me - 4.5" (2" white over 2.5" of black).
