Hard Water Contest - Dates Chosen

Same rules as in past years. Choose a date, the closest "guess" gets a BIG prize! - Lake must be visibly frozen (all that is in the view of both webcams) and stay that way for one week (7 days). If one of the cams is down, we use the other; if both cams are down we end the contest. Contest pick dates close November 1st. If there are two choices (e.g. Number of days before and the number of days after the event) there will be a tie and the winners will share the prize.

Looks like the lake is pretty hard (frozen over) from the view of both cams. Pretty early in the season, but I like it. So we begin a week of watching.

Back in the running there 393ranger Both cams showing a frozen lake this morning. I think I will take a ride around the lake Saturday and check out some of the sheltered bays for ice. Got to be getting close to fishable.

I hear that some guys were fishing on Friday on the lake, Someone posted it on Facebook, get the tip-ups ready,

Yesterday, on her way to the rink, my wife saw fisherman on the ice near Black Lake Marina.
This morning, (it's 7:10AM) I can see a Blue Ice shanty looking back towards Fishermans Landing. I guess the season has started.

It is ice with no snow. The majority of the main lake looks like that. There is about 3" of clear ice out there.

We have a winner for the 2013-14 First Ice Contest.
393ranger chose the closest date to the actual freeze-up and here we are one week later with a lake that is still frozen. He chose November 29th and freeze-up was November 30th. Good going!

Thank You, I don't know why I picked that date but be safe out there, Here in NEPA we have 4" on some of the local lakes, I like a little more for my A##, Just be careful it is early to have Ice.

Hit 57. Was on the ice 30 minutes ago. No harm and it's going to 20 tonight and tomorrow night. Main lake is froze as well.
