Very disappointing day for the derby...not a single flag all day!

Fishing has picked up a little after a long dry spell.

Where is all the snow? What a mild crazy winter. You guys are lucky you have ice. Ive heard that some ponds in the area are still not safe.

Maybe there is no snow because at the bottom of the picture the date is 2007.

Don't know about that - I don't see that date; anyways - the fact is we do not have snow here right now :? Pretty strange weather patterns for the North Country this winter. I think we might have had one morning that temps fell below zero and the vast majority of the precipitation we've had this winter has been rain; so far, that is.

The date is wrong from carrying my camera around on the ice for hours at a time on the mighty Black Lake just in case I might catch a decent fish and the batteries are constantly dead. I can assure you...there is no snow.

My first shanty has been a huge success. a couple small improvements(rattle reels, bunk, wired for generator) and next year hope to be more mobile. Although right now it's sitting very close to open water, on glare ice, and too windy to untie it since I have to push it 100 yards to launching area. Lake is breaking up unbelievably fast today!

What part of the lake are you on? That shack looks like it's pretty awesome. I like the flag. 8)

Has the water been dropping?

I noticed that the oswegatchie, through Ogdensburg has opened up completely. Scary to think we be going to lose our ice before the end of February - but I would not be surprised. :(

Got shack off the ice at 5:00 a.m. A HUGE relief since I could see open water 150 yards away. A rare couple hours with no wind made the difference. Ice is doing some wierd stuff even now.
