Just ten more weeks to the Bass Opener....

Went up to check out the lake this morning. Most ice is gone. Remainder of the ice is floating toward the bridge and West side of lake. Looking forward to opening- another month or so. Can't wait. Catch & Release

Fishingmagician

Sorry to say - probably it will never happen as I dont get out much on the lake anymore due to various reasons. Used to have a 16' boat in years past. Now I'm using an old 12 foot boat around the camp area only. Anymore I'm lucky if I get to throw a few lines in once and awhile. So when you do get up to fish - catch some for me and have a good time. Catch & Release

I see the docks are going out on web cam 1! Another winter is in the books!

Headed home from Watertown way this afternoon - I was "racing" a bassboat down the lake.
The dock is not in at the launch yet and the buoys are not out yet.

Thanks. I read this earlier and made the decision not to take the chance without buoys. Who puts them out, and when do you think this will be done? Anyone know? I did back the boat into the river and start the motor. Runs like new. I was wondering how many of you, whom have their motors fogged for winter storage....change the plugs in the spring?

About the buoys... I believe DEC does it and they are usally in by first weekend in May. As for the plug question. I haven't changed them from the "fogging" but just done when maintance is required.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the information. One year, I changed them because I thought I was supposed to. However last year, I didn't and it ran great. This year, I backed the boat into the local river to run it for the first time this year after being fogged. It sounded soooo good that I didn't see the need to mess with it.

Next year, I will have a heated garage. Is there any need to fog a motor if it is warm all winter? Stupid question maybe, but not sure since it will still be sitting five months not being used.

Anyone heard of Seafoam? Someone was telling me it was better than marine stabilizer for addressing the older motor/ethanol, problem.

I'm going with new plugs from the getgo this year, I think that I may have a bad one. Getting the boat out of storage next weekend and will head straight to the nearest lake to get it fired up and see how it is running, can't wait! Hit a small local pond today searching for some panfish, caught a few dinks but just being out was refreshing.

NY State Dept. of Parks does the buoys, I believe. They are out by the 1st of May.
I don't change plugs, as long as the engine is running well. I would fog the engine for storage regardless of storage conditions/environment.
